American music producer, DJ and songwriter DJ Shadow (birth name Joshua Davis) was born on June 29, 1972, in San Jose, California, USA. He started out his music career as a disc jockey. During this time, he was working for the University of California, Davis campus radio station. As a student, he was very keen in developing experimental hip hop style. Later, he was signed with the California-based Solesides record label. After this deal, two hit singles, "In/Flux" and "Lost and Found (S.F.L.)", were immediately released. He achieved mainstream success in 2002 with his second album, The Private Press, which yielded the singles, "Six Days", "Mongrel..." and "...Meets His Maker.
