Dir en grey is a Japanese band formed in Osaka, Japan in 1997. The band’s lineup didn’t change through the career and the group members are Kyo - vocals, Kaoru – guitar, backing vocals, Die – guitar, backing vocals, Toshiya – bass guitar, backing vocals and Shinya – drums. The band’s music style is the question to discuss. They changed it for many times but most critics agree that all their music is different forms of alternative rock, though some of the tracks can show more pop sound, others more progressive. One of the core elements of the band is Kyo’s vocal abilities, he is said to be able to “howl, croon, emote cleanly, scream, shriek, growl, bellow, and make nearly inhuman sounds”. During its career the band has released seven studio albums and the last one Uroboros was released in 2008 and became a breakthrough to the American market.
