American heavy metal band Dio was formed in 1982. The band comprises Ronnie James Dio (vocals), Craig Goldy (guitar), Rudy Sarzo (bass), Scott Warren (keyboards) and Simon Wright (drums). They quickly gained popularity in 1983 with their breakthrough debut album, Holy Diver, which spawned three singles, "Straight Through the Heart", "Rainbow in the Dark" and "Holy Diver". This album peaked at number 61 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum in the United States. The first single "Holy Diver" charted at seventy-two in the United Kingdom, followed by "Rainbow in the Dark" which reached 46. "Holy Diver" also gained popularity from MTV.
