American alternative rock, hard rock and post-grunge band Collective Soul from Stockbridge, Georgia, was formed in 1992. The band comprises Ed Roland (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards), Dean Roland (rhythm guitar, vocals), Will Turpin (bass guitar, vocals), Joel Kosche (lead guitar) and Cheney Brannon (drums, percussion). They quickly gained popularity in 1992 with their breakthrough debut album, Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid, which peaked at number 1 on the Top Heatseekers Albums chart and also peaked at number 15 on the The Billboard 200 Albums chart. The album also produced three hit singles such as "Shine", "Wasting Time" and "Breathe". The album's lead single, "Shine", became the band's most well known song and a hallmark of 1990s alternative rock. It also became the number 1 Album Rock Song of 1994, and won a Billboard award for Top Rock Track.
