The Chicago Symphony Orchestra is one of the leading orchestras in the United States and one of the best orchestras in the world. It was ranked number 5 best world orchestra by the British classical magazine Gramophone in 2008. The Orchestra has received incredible number of the Grammy Awards in such nominations like Best Classical Album, Best Horal Performance, Best Instrumental Soloist with Orchestra, Best Classical Vocal Performance and others. During its history, the orchestra played works by such famous composers as Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, Bela Bartok, Gustav Mahler, Franz Liszt, Dmitri Shostakovich, Richard Strauss, Maurice Ravel and many others.
