The Cardigans is a Swedish pop rock band formed in Jönköping, Sweden in 1992. The band composes of Lars-Olof Johansson, Peter Svensson, Bengt Lagerberg, Nina Persson, Magnus Sveningsson. The band’s music style was changing from album to album, beginning with indie rock experiments and ending with rock. They came to prominence in 1994 when they released their debut album Emmerdale. This allowed them to build a following in their home country; they were also noticed especially in Japan. The second album Life (1995) and the single Carnival became breakthrough ones to the mainstream success. The follow up album First band on the Moon became their most popular and commercially successful album. It was certified Platinum in Canada and in the U.S. and Silver in the UK.
