American pop singer Britney Spears (birth name Britney Jean Spears) was born on 2 December, 1981, in Kentwood, LA, USA. At the age of eight, she auditioned for the Disney Channel series The New Mickey Mouse Club. Although she was considered too young to join the series at the time, a producer on the show introduced her to a New York City agent. At eleven, she returned to the Disney Channel for a spot on The New Mickey Mouse Club. In 1997, she recorded a solo demo and was signed by Jive Records. In 1999, she released her debut breakthrough album, ...Baby One More Time, which was a worldwide commercial success, reaching the top five in nineteen countries, and number one in fifteen, including the U.S Billboard 200.
