Jamaican reggae and ska singer-songwriter and musician Bob Marley (February 6, 1945 – May 11, 1981) was born in the small village of Nine Mile in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica as Nesta Robert Marley. He was the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist for the ska, rocksteady and reggae bands The Wailers and Bob Marley & the Wailers. He was the first Jamaican artist to achieve international success, in the process introducing the music of his native island nation to the far-flung corners of the globe. He is well known for the hit singles such as "Is This Love", "No Woman, No Cry", "Could You Be Loved", "Three Little Birds" and others.
