Bloc party is an English indie rock band formed in London, UK in 1999. The band’s line-up consists of Kele Okereke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Russell Lissack (lead guitar), Gordon Moakes (bass guitar, synths, backing vocals, glockenspiel), and Matt Tong (drums, backing vocals). The band was formed at Reading festival by Okereke and Lissack. The road to fame began when they sent their demo “She’s hearing Voices” to Steve Lamacq from BBC Radio 1 and to Alex Kapranos, a lead singer of Franz Ferdinand. The debut album Silent Alarm was released in 2005 and got the Platinum certificate which is by no means a great success for the beginning band.
