| Biography: |
Big Star is an American rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, the United States in 1971. The band was founded by Alex Chilton, Chris Bell, Jody Stephens and Andy Hummel. They played not for too long and broke up in 1974. However, in 1993 the band reunited and they are still active .The current line-up composes of Jon Auer (guitar, vocals), Alex Chilton (guitars, vocals), Jody Stephens (drums, vocals) and Ken Stringfellow (bass, vocals). During the first active period, the band was under influence of the so-called British invasion, like The Beatles, The Kinks and some others. Their power pop was combined with nihilistic themes producing a unique mixture of musical and lyrical styles. The short active period was acknowledged by many other bands and the group received a strong following. The first three albums are considered to be very influential. You can download Big Star’s first three albums #1 Record, Radio City and Third/Sister Lovers in mp3 from our site.
