Scottish traditional folk rock music band Battlefield Band from Glasgow, was formed in 1969. The band comprises Alan Reid (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Alasdair White (fiddle, tin whistle, banjo, bouzouki), Mike Katz (Highland pipes, small pipes, various whistles, bass guitar) and Sean O'Donnell (vocals, guitar). They appeared on the European folk music scene in the mid-1970 with their debut album, Farewell to Nova Scotia, which produced the band's first hit singles such as "Farewell to Nova Scotia", "The Bonny Whaling Laddie", "The Back O'Benachie" and "Revie's Reel / Mary Mahon". They are also well known for a collection of their hit singles such as "The River" (Words Alan Reid, Music Alan Reid/John McCusker), "The Rovin' Dies Hard" (Brian McNeill), "The Yew Tree" (Brian McNeill), "Christ Has My Hart Ay", "Frideray" (Dougie Pincock& Alan Reid) and "Happy Daze" (John McCusker).
