David Warren Brubeck, known better as Dave Brubeck is an American jazz pianist, bandleader and composer born on December 6, 1920 in Concord, California, the United States. He is considered jazz classics and some of his compositions became jazz standards including "In Your Own Sweet Way" and "The Duke". For his long and outstanding career, Brubeck received Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and was inducted into the California Hall of Fame. He was also announced the Kennedy Center Honoree. Brubeck was a leader of the Dave Brubeck Quarter and has become one of the greatest cool jazz representatives. Brubeck’s contribution is difficult to separate from other musicians of the quartet. For example, Paul Desmond was one of the composers (Take Five). It was the first jazz composition, which was sold by 1 million copies.
