American new age and indian rock band Rasa from San Francisco was formed in 1998 in San Francisco, California. The band comprises Hans Christian (German-born cellist and multi-instrumentalist who is also known for his solo career and collaborations with various artists such as Robert Rich, Amoeba, Krishna Das, Vas and many others) and Kim Waters (American vocalist). The band was heavily influenced by Indian devotional music and Western classical music. They quickly gained popularity in 2000 with their debut breakthrough album, Devotion, which was released on Hearts of Space Records. This album produced several hit singles such as "Arati", "Ganesha Sharanam", "Mama Mandire", "Jiv Jago" and "Govinda Jaya Jaya".
