Anita Baker is an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter born on January 26, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio, the United States. She began her music career in 1983 releasing her debut album The Songstress. It wasn’t noticed by the majority of the audience but she continued her efforts and the album Rapture released in 1986 became a true hit. The album reached the top spot on the R&B/HI-hop albums and peaked at number 11 on the Billboard 200. It went on to become 5 x Platinum. The album spawned several singles. The most popular one was “Sweet Love”. The album earned Baker her first two Grammys for Best Rhythm & Blues song (Sweet Love) and Best R&B Vocal Performance, Female for Rapture.
