| Biography: |
999 are an English punk rock band founded in London in 1977. The band was founded by singer and guitarist Nick Cash and by guitarist Guy Days. They put an advertisement in a paper and recruited all the rest band members. The original line-up composed also of Chrissie Hynde, Jon Moss and Tony James. The band received their name after the telephone number of emergency service in Britain. The band quickly emerged on the London punk scene and established their name. They released their debut self-titled album in 1978. The album was supported by the singles “Emergency” and “Me and My Desire”. However, the debut effort reached only number 53 on the UK Albums chart. The band toured extensively in the United States and their albums The Biggest Prize In Sport and Concrete eventually charted in the Billboard 200.
